Euphrosynos the Cook-Though St. Euphrosynos was an illiterate son of illiterate peasants they had enriched his life with devout prayer. When he was admitted to a monastery on Mt. Athos, and had no credentials, he was assigned to the kitchen. There he performed his menial task of preparing meals. He was known for his sincerity and while he dispensed food for the body, he found food for his soul. When not at work he found intimacy with God in seclusion in one of the many caves in the area.
